Twin Macro Study

by El Muchacho Alegre on September 9, 2010

Only so much can be done with a phone camera, despite the advances in technology. That disclaimer noted, in Bubba’s Back Yard, in El Paso, TX, I caught the morning image as I was searching for a shadow shot, or a close-up of the hibiscus as it was opening. When that first image didn’t adequately – or to my satisfaction – catch the image, I tended to other business, like building Grace’s webpage, which I knew would be a problem since Mercury was retrograde, but still not an issue.

We took a coffee break in the backyard, and I got the second shot. Same flower, same location, just a an hour later, maybe less, maybe more. I didn’t pay a lot of attention to the time.

Kind of cool.

Hic Est Draco

by El Muchacho Alegre on September 8, 2010

I go back and re-read previous material, then I realize my hits and misses.

That in-flight magazine, the bulk of the “article” pages, which, frankly is stretching the concept, as the articles were a short sidebar teaser, then a two-thirds page graphic that related to the content, then the content itself, about a paragraph, maybe not even that much, maybe just part of a thought, teased from the Table of Contents, then further teased with what amounts to a tweet, hopelessly distracted by an overwhelming graphic, and padded out with white space.

Big picture. Little words.

In the big picture, while I’m sure this hits the target and the target audience, I find it pretty useless.

Hic est draco:
It’s Latin. Some cartographers might grasp the allusion.

Again, it tickled my fancy.

The Answer:
Answer to the graphic magazine, my rough draft, is here. Should have an eBook (Amazon Kindle, Sony eReader, iPhone, etc.) version before too long.

Printed form isn’t out because of Mercury Retrograde yet, but will be available soon.

Apples and Oranges

Mercury RX Rollout:
Makes me wonder… What I gleaned from that article? Price point. Like the giant, though, there is a market for 99-cent digital goods.

Nickel

One nickel. I’ve raised my prices by $0.05. One nickel. Spread across two items, that makes it even easier. I spent time on twiddling with Grace’s Website, and in partial exchange, I’ve gotten some Feng Shui advice. Good stuff, she knows her way around ba’qua. Bag-wa. Compass. Pricing was the issue, what to set prices [...]

Two-Meat Tuesday

Not really, but the idea was sound. In the last three months, I’ve flown Southwest Airlines three times. Used to be my over-all favorite airline. Probably still is. They are getting a little corporate and confusing some issues these days, but that doesn’t matter, too much. The in-flight magazine, published in an ironic twist, by [...]

Morning Macro

From El Paso, TX, sometimes referred to as Bubba’s Back Yard, the half-moon and and the backyard lilies, a single phone camera image. Limits of hardware… Hardware: iPhone Software: Camera+, iPhoto Kind of fun, it was another early morning image, sun not quite up, moon still lingering overhead.
