“20. Firstly, eschew action that is aimless and has no objective. Secondly, take as the only goal of conduct what is to the common interest.”

  • Excerpt From: Emperor of Rome Marcus Aurelius. “Meditations.” Book # XII

Started with a single entry from my stunted Bullet journal works, but I did figure out a crystal clear pathway to simplify most of my online material.

Originally, there was the heading of “Road Stories,” which eventually became the genesis for the web journal, that was a daily minder ( or mind-dump), which settled at astrofish.net/xenon. After a period of experimentation, at first the journal was hand-coded and uploaded pretty much daily, just over-writing the previous day’s entry until I had a month’s worth of material. Some fragments still live on the site — someplace.

Concatenate — trying to tie up those loose ends.

That led to using a database-driven motor, which, in turn, led to using WordPress, and for a few years, that’s been the main driving force. Or, more aptly put, the database drives the front end display, so, in effect? A WordPress motor. Driving.

Bifurcation led to Sky Friday, that was rolled back in to xenon after a few years, while I still started the current motor, kramerwetzel.com. Two other weblogs, mostly image databases, one was for a rental property at the coast, and the other was for London, both which have been abandoned — one was sold, and thereafter, I lost an address in the UK, so, no way to justify that URL.

As noted before, the older road stories were incorporated into the database, making them viable entries. So that’s three variants of the original xenon, three other blogs, and then, the current collection, that’s seven, and counting, of spurious online material, all collated and collected in one spot — then erased from the original locations.

Update those pointers.

Finally, though, the last pieces? Simplify as a much as possible? The plan, when the Bexar County Line URL runs out in 2022? Pull that into the same database. Thinking of halting that one in 2021, as that would be a full 14 years. The registration database shows that I bought it while still in Austin, but it was’t an active site until May 2007, with a car crushing bump.

Sidebar item: San Antonio is still way weirder than Austin, but no one knows.

Concatenate

As it sits, there were three or four databases no longer needed, having imported everything into one. Simple, linear structure, which, in and of itself is kind of surprising and enlightening at the same time, as this shows exactly when I wrote something and posted it.
