Shout out to my peeps, “S’up dude?”
That’s so wrong for an aging hipster to talk and act in a manner not in keeping with his station. Us pale, northern European, straight stock? Really shouldn’t try talking that talk. The shout goes to Scott since he’s the only person I know who ever pieced together the obvious clues, and I know he was in the club.
I ran into one employee, maybe a half dozen years back, on the streets in Austin, in the spring. Noted here, and it was on a Two-meat Tuesday (and some bass fishing).
Anyway, the memories are still there, although some are muddled in time, and to be honest, I wasn’t, as the poet Allen Ginsburg would say, “in my right mind.” Quoting from memory, not to be relied upon.
“C’est tres drole, quelle surprise.”

Mein Gott in Himmel — I just got it. Goes to show what early-morning coding can do to your brain. Coffee and beignets and then Bloody Marys should always be the order of the (Sun)day. Too bad we live in San Antonio.

“Whut?”
Today I was rummaging around in my WB encyclopaedias looking for Russia. The book fell open at Roosevelt,Theodore. My eye was caught by the word “dude”. As in “In the fall of 1881, at the age of 23, Roosevelt won election to the New York state assembly. He wore sideburns and dressed elegantly. The other legislators thought he looked like a “dude”. But his intelligence, courage, and energy won their respect.” Hmmm, sideburns. Must have been meant for your consideration, not mine.
