Unrelated local news:
City Council (person) – gets plenty of local air time – always has “this to say about that,” and should be most noted for vehement opposition to a titty bar. Anyway, she was also against a more strict smoking ban, or, the news on Saturday night, she was opposed to a state-wide ban because it would negatively impact local businesses. I’m guessing, titty bars being about the only place you can smoke anymore.

Not that I know anything about this.

Earl Abel’s:
Unforgiving. My memory is long enough, scarred enough, that I can recall useless facts about restaurants, locations, and historical allusions that are next to worthless.

In San Antonio, at the corner of Broadway and Hildbrandt, catty-corner to one of the universities, I think, Incarnate Word, there was a coffee shop. Used some of the artwork in advertising, liked it that much.

Coffee

All I could dig up was one reference shot – of the old building. That location is now on its way to being a high-rise development. 13 floors filled in thus far.

The old sign, art of the old interior, bits and pieces of history were all moved to a new location. Looks like the staff made it to the new location, too. Out on the old Austin Highway.

The chicken-fried steak is as big as your face. The steak and eggs I had was close to a baseball-cut of steak, although it was listed as a New York Strip. Salmon Croquettes? Plump little Madonna-looking things under a heavy sauce. All good, all the way around.

I had coffee with my meal, after all, it is a coffee shop. Old school. Kicking it, old school.
