Vegas baby

Junket to sin city. Or city of earthly delights. Or city where the prices (and tourists) all resemble Europe.

“We were somewhere around Barstow when the drugs begin to take effect….”

Have to include a nod to the great American paean, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, although, I’ve long since lost my amateur pharmacology standing. Still, always worth a nod.

I was plugging in the iPhone head-set to listen to some music, and one of the guys was saying, “Yeah, we’re ‘hands-free’ in Cal, but now days, everyone is texting or emailing.”

Passing one place, another nugget surfaced, “Yeah, they’re selling all their casinos, turns out, they make more off their line of gas – convenience store. Mostly gas. Fuel.”

The Bellagio has a “Modern American” curated show. The center piece is a Georgia O’Keefe painting, “Deer Skull with Perdenales.”

The “American Modernists” exploded with new stuff, and the inherent sensual yet equally barren feeling evoked by Georgia O’Keefe’s work highlighted that.

Watching the short production about about her and her work brought tears to my eyes.

Weird how art can effect me like that.
