Cruising along, windows cracked, Gulf of Mexico shoreline on one side, and the Corpus Christi Bay on the other.

Charley Robison croons on the radio, about looking for something along the border.

It’s a moment of perfection, at the end of January, in Texas.

The hibiscus were still blooming, big as day.
