Hell or High Water
At movies, now.
Fantastic film. A little slice of my life. Not so much a slice the current day, but there was time. Yes, there was a time. Even been through some of those towns in West Texas, same places. Granted, I’d wager the film was really mostly shot in New Mexico, with just pointers to place it back in Texas. No name place between Midland and the Oklahoma border. Really is like that.
Oil boom. Oil bust. Repeat.
While I’m unsure of some of the details, there is a Route 66 Indian Casino just a few miles west of Albuquerque. Don’t know if that was the one they used in the film, but it is a work of fiction.
Only people like that are for real.
Hat tip to Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine. The supporting roles, many of them just superlative.
Good film.
Highly recommended, even if, “Ya’ll ain’t from around here.”
And the music, nothing better than Ray Wylie’s growling voice.
Use Ray Wylie’s music in a movie about Texas? It's got to be good.
