Licensed to Thrill 1 – Diane Capri
Not sure where this is going, assuming it is like a licensed by-product derived from the immensely popular, and I would deem good, Jack Reacher series. Thoroughly enjoyable, what I used to call, still think of it s such, “Airport reading” as that Jack Reacher set of books, 20 or more by now, were/are executed with a brilliant anti-hero. We need more of those.
So the first book in the License to Thrill — so far — slow start, quick build-out with an unnamed goal, but purportedly, the hunt for Jack Reacher.
Intrigue and intriguing premise, but I’m unsure I would pay full retain l for the rest of the series. More like a pulp price, in the “paperback” range would be appropriate.
Funny, almost incomprehensible to me, a main character has an absurd fear of flying. I’ve flown, mostly commercial, too much of my previous life to be afraid. In the novel’s text, though, the fear described is palpable.
Compare that to protagonist’s partner, that’s the world I live in, I hear the jet engine spool up, before the obligatory safety warnings, and I’m passed out.
Lends verisimilitude. I’m watching for more, on sale. Fans of Jack Reacher will like the work.
