Wooden Flowers Natural Sepia Shot

by El Muchacho Alegre on July 28, 2010

With my wee, Scorpio mum in Santa Fe, there was this house. The front porch was festooned with those colorful, wooden flowers. Probably an expensive piece of yard art. Could be cheap New Mexico kitsch, I’m not sure. I snapped a huge number of shots, trying to capture the essence of the wooden flowers, the essential moment of the image, and weird as it may be, the first image was the best. There must be a message about trying too hard. Not sure about that.

What I liked best about this very image was the way it came out with no mucking about – no tweaking, no adjustment, no special filter, no sepia tone laid down, none of that.

Import from the camera, reduce the size, and that’s it. The true New Mexico colors.

Marvelous. I’ve had a few like this. Serendipity at work.
