Love’s Labors Lost

Scholarly quick hits. I’m going to reread the play. The show was good enough to spark my interest in the text again.

There is some very exquisite poetry in Love’s Labor’s Lost.

One scene, a messenger is supposed to deliver a love letter, and he does, only, he has two love letters to deliver, and the love letters go to the wrong women. Or the right women, I mean, it is a plot device, wrong letter in the wrong hands by the wrong hands. With comical effect.

Which is a perfect Mercury Retrograde example. Well played.

The Dallas Shakespeare (free) FestivalN.B. – not free, and I had hard time trying to explain I was really under 12.

Arm. The words of Mercury are harsh after the songs of Apollo. You, that way: we, this way. (Exeunt)

The (not so) popular movie version.
