Checks and balance

I checked with the airline before I ever left, checked with the hotel, checked with the websites, and it looked good. As a native Texan, when I hear about 70 MPH winds, and 6 inches of rain in a single a day, I’m thinking, “Surf’s up!”

A twister landed in Austin, couple of years back, less than two miles from my place. Ever feel 70 MPH wind – in a trailer?

Six inches of rain in a single day? Yeah, happened at least twice – no, three times – this summer so far. Trees down and power out? Again, not much of an issue. But I’m in Texas – we’re used to fickle and occasionally harsh natures of Nature.

That’s what Chicago was like.

Be fun if this worked.

Doubt any of it works just yet, and it’ll be Wednesday or Tuesday before I’ll get it all done, but the Quote Book – MY commonplace collection (title is “Pink Cake” on a dare and a whim) – should be available before too long. And in the meantime? How about the quotes, which, for various reasons, didn’t make the cut?

That file is here (PDF – free).

Matter of fact, the whole book will be available – for free – in a few days. As a PDF.

North to Alaska?
“Chicago, that’s pretty far north, isn’t it?”

Yeah, it’s about 200 miles south of the arctic circle, far as I know.
