There’s an inherent duality in my world. Black and white. Left and right, wet and dry, and according to some, fish-on/fish-off. The more I wrestled with the deeper meaning of Pluto going in Capricorn, the more I recalled recent conversations. Readings, and such. There’s an inherent lack of custom now. There’s a certain sense of change that the old ways are dying off. Then, too, there’s the old structures that need to fall.
Corporate fidelity is lost. No sense of loyalty amongst big companies, not anymore. There are no more situations where a guy starts working in the mailroom and makes it to the executive level, and retires after 30 years. The big companies just have hired guns these days. Contractors are expendable, cost less, and there’s less pension, health care, or other benefits to be troubled with.
I try to be careful about purchases, and I prefer to buy “made in America” tagged items. That means, locally, even, I could now buy a Toyota truck that was made in South Texas. I wonder how much loyalty that company has to the area. How much is dependent on a valid sense of place.
This isn’t about trucks, not really, it’s about Pluto and Capricorn. Maybe some of this was coming at us faster than we think. Capricorn – in part – represents established structures. Like, for example, big, multinational companies. Corporate entities with a cold heart. Business, bottom-line, and value. Not values, but dollar value. More cold-heated than that ex.
With metrics, every move, every iota of motion can be scrutinized, isolated and analyzed for whatever. Example: I can look at a log sheet, a database, really, of every motion, every click, and presumably, every eyeball that reads the website. I’ll also readily admit, I can’t be bothered. Too much raw data. Not enough income to justify that kind of an analysis. “Paralysis by analysis,” I think that was the term.
I was weighing this decision, as I’ve been a long-term Levi-brand loyal jean guy. 501, just buttons, straight leg boot cut. I have a Levi Jeans ass. Wrangler always made my butt feel smaller, and not always in a good way. In the world I live? It’s either Levi or Wrangler, and I’ve been a Levi guy. Like it’s either Ford or Chevy.
I remember when Levi moved a plant out of San Antonio, several, I think. Market collapsed. I recall when Levi left El Paso, too. First Mexico, now, think, further south. Last pair I bought, I think was made in Honduras.
I may be brand loyal to a fault. I tried, I mean, I looked at some Wranglers the other afternoon. Too many flour tortillas, and I might need another waist size. Happens. I thought about those Wrangler jeans. Today, at this point, I’m still loyal to Levi. It’s the shape of my butt. I’m still brand loyal, but as Pluto moves into Capricorn? I could think about Wrangler jeans. Or something besides a Ford. Or not.

I hate it when my writing spins out of control, but then, that’s why I have this weblog, the place for all misplaced modifiers.
