I establish school bus stops for youngsters K – 12th grade. In one particularly hilly area the students were picked up at the bottom of the hill in the morning, and dropped off on the other side of the hill in the afternoon. The kids who lived at the top of the hill did, in fact, have to walk uphill both ways. Until their parents found out and were outraged enought to get it changed. The kids didn’t mind; they enjoyed the joke, especially when we told them the whole story. So there are children who have to walk uphill both ways.
Southern California. Snow? I don’t think so. Shoes? Of course, even though they said they’d prefer to go barefoot. Me, too.
