Custom Ringtones:
I clipped and edited a particular sample song, so, technically, I sampled a sample, and I turned that into a ringtone. Then, one of the custom ringtones is assigned to a particular buddy, not named Bubba, and then, I was walking along, listening to music and that song came up. Then he called, complaining I was impossible to reach. Couldn’t tell the ringtone from the song – no wonder.
Costco – iTunes & Starbucks cards:
I was in a local Costco, the big-box store with a (supposedly) corporate conscience. I’m not sure if coffee and mailing labels by the pallet is really socially correct, but who cares? Good stuff, in bulk, usually cheap.
As we headed out the door, the old guy doing the door check looked over the supplies, water, bulk coffee, iTunes cards, and he asked, “No Starbucks cards? They are a good deal, $79.”
Parked the grocery cart and dashed back to the checker. Five (5) Twenty Dollar ($20) Starbucks gift cards for $79. He allowed as how they (his store) only had a hundred left out of the original 500, arrived that morning.
It makes good sense from several perspectives, Costco doesn’t sell anything without a cut for the store, the company makes a small percentage on everything. Starbucks has “money in the bank” with those cards. I know what happens to some of those gift cards. I gave one to my mother. She carried it around in her purse for a year or more. She finally broke down and bought something with it, I think it was an emergency Chai Tea Latte, which would normally be against my religion, but who am I to pass judgements on what people drink?
However, with a economic turmoil and Xmas coming up? Think about those iTunes cards and Starbucks cards. In bulk, cheap. Easy to ship, too.
