Austin Garage Sales & free stuff

One more Austin Garage Sale:
“Once more unto the breach dear friends, once more!”
(Shakespeare’s Henry V, Act 3 &c.)
Always nice, see, I’m just doing this for a friend, but it’s always nice, early on, I get that single image that sets the tone.

It was a hispanic couple, in a big diesel Ford 250, truck idling curbside in the freezing morning light. Sun had barely crested the horizon. I watched as he crawled down from the cab, little short, round guy, kind of merry, swallowed whole in a big camo jacket with a fur-lined hood. Dusty jeans and sturdy work boots.

His “Novia” followed from around the corner, she was as round as he was, matching camo jacket but she was moving on two legs in pink, furry, flannel pajama bottoms – on her feet were floppy-eared bunny slippers.

Some sights just make Austin, well, Austin.

Drive-by:
Austin City Bus – Cap Metro – rolls up. Stops. Door opens.

“Hey! Is that a VCR?”
“Sure.”
“Does it work?”
“Sure.”
“My name’s Ben, I’ll be back after my shift, hold it for me!”
“Sure.”

Drive-by shoppers for the garage sale. Threw in a few tapes, too. I think one was “Flashdance.”

Free Stuff:
The cure for the Xmas shopping crunch? How about something for nothing?

Free. The complete text, cover artwork and everything? Books on computers, with a bonus section, too: the stuff that got chopped.

Here’s how it works: astrofish.net/book — that’s the link.

I’d like you to buy the book from Amazon but — our Xmas gift — just click underneath the title and download the PDF file for free. No catch. No cost. There’s no catch, no “gotcha,” no catch. Nothing. No catch. Free. (While supplies last – limited time offer- act now!)

Thank you. I might just mosey on over to Amazon and see what I can find. I’m always in the market for a new book or two. Or three.

Speaking of “mosey” there are some expressions ganked from other languages, kemo sabey, that I have always wondered about, capish? Some I know the original word, some I have no idea. Like mosey. Or ganked.

“Mosey” is from your neck of the woods: it’s a Hollywood term from the (California) Westerns.

    I don’t mosey, I wander.
