“Keep Out/No Huntin”

Alongside NM State Highway 14? As it stretches north towards the back entrance to Santa Fe, there’s an expanse of little towns, wide valley and rugged peaks. The high desert. Alpine, in the winter, and in the sumer? Very desert. Alongside the highway, with its wide right-of-way, I know I’ve been here before, there was a stretch with the usual “no hunting” signage. Then, further along, there was a more emphatic set of signs: old tires, carefully labeled: “NO HUNTIN.”

“G” wasn’t silent; it was dropped completely.
