Folklore & Myth:
The omnipresent “Dia de las Muertas,” the Mexican “Day of the Dead,” also known as All Saints’ Day and All Hallow’s, turn out it’s just another Halloween tradition, lifted from northern Europe. What I heard.

The academic tradition, no sources, sorry, traced Day of the Dead from Saints’ Day, which, in turn, was a Catholic/Christian answer to Samhain.

I just imagined, from the candied, sugar skulls, to the gay decorations and culturally diverse ethnic origins, Dia de los Muertos was more steeped in local and indigenous traditions.

Never underestimate the power of Mother Church.
