Prog Rock
The term is from decades’ old musical taxonomy, and it’s an abbreviation, a shortening of the original expression which is derivative of a longer term. A the time, it was “progressive rock,” although, I’ve often seen this material referred to as “art rock,” as it combined more than one element.
