True Romance

True Romance
I’m thinking, I did my first show in San Antonio in 1992, or maybe it was 1993. Fuzzy details, porous memory. Not a long drive from Austin, to be sure, but a world apart. It was at least a decade before I began making regular appearances in ‘Bexar County,’ coming in from Austin on a Friday night or Saturday morning, working the big expo then at the bookstore, which wasn’t really a bookstore, but who cares?

www.BexarCountyLine.com

A marketing question popped up, and I looked, but I couldn’t find exact data. Has to do with purpose, vision, and focal point. Therein is the problem, that site doesn’t have any of that. No purpose other than an expression of digital images, some decades old, some taken last week. All depends.

I did it because I noticed a hole in San Antonio’s web fabric.

The site isn’t high class.

Want high definition, properly framed and formatted pictures? Not the place. What pedestrian-eye view from a tourist perspective? Getting closer.

What’s annoying, though, is the notion that it is more than just a simple labor of love.

moving from Austin to San Antonio must have been like stepping out of one universe into another–different culture–the Museo Alameda gatework is always beautiful, inspiring

Nope, less of a transition than one would think. Only about 70 miles. What’s weird in San Antonio is that no one thinks it’s weird.
