How about that Liberal Arts Education?

It’s funny? This single pane cartoon, mocks education.

Oddly enough, or in terms of that comic strip’s point, I really use large portions of college and university education. In my work. Almost daily, if not daily.

Math? Probably not as often, as it takes me a good hour or more to do a chart by hand. I can run excellent approximations, though, in less than a minute.

When to buy:
A Mac, Apple, &c.

If you can’t beat them?
Eat them. (I did not watch the video, poor reptiles!)

I used my liberal arts degree all the time when I was working. Seems I was the only one who could write, spell, punctuate, find a synonym, and so forth. Also used my minor in geography, but not so much. MA in South Asian Studies good for cross-cultural experiences as a general frame of reference, even when not specific to the person with whom I was speaking at the time.

But most of all, my education taught me that there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in my philosophy, and gave me the tools to analyze, write, speak about it. In my view, that is the real underlying purpose of an education.

but do we still have to solve for X, per the cartoon?

(so I do use a little simple math in my readings)
