I’ve always had a strong feeling for the section in the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus counsels his audience to do good to them who do harm to you. Not some theoretical “love” but a practical application of it. Anybody who has been deep down angry knows how hard it can be to do good, rather than paying them back. I can achieve “do no harm” but returning good for evil? Hard, hard, hard.
