Best Coffee

Texas Coffee Traders, used to be in South Austin, then in old East Austin, and these days, I’m unsure of the location.

Years ago, one coffee shop — coffee stop for me on Congress Avenue — used to be a great place. The little barista dude, Taurus, was the consummate coffee aesthete. He really knew his stuff. Years later, I encountered him while I was ducking through a Nordstrom’s to get to an Apple store.

Think we exchanged business cards.

He “graduated” from foaming lattes for the less evolved and was maintaining fancy espresso machines for various stores, while, if I recall, working for Texas Coffee Traders.

For years, I loved Jo’s Coffee best, with a nod towards Peet’s Italian Roast as the best for home consumption.

My palate has improved, and yet, to this day, fresh Texas Coffee Traders Italian Roast is one of the best. Fresh roast.

Coffee was an xmas gift from the red-headed Capricorn.
