One Fish Two Fish

Red fish, Sheepshead. With apologies to Dr. Suess, but it was just about one fish, two fish, big Red fish, and whopper of a Sheepshead. Mostly on shrimp, and not much else was working.

One Fish, Two Fish

Kind of a weird trip, right at the beginning of a Mercury in Retrograde.

Had the Sheepshead that night, prepared at Avery’s in Port A. Been looking for another fine dining dive, and that might be the new one.

“Avery is a Port A local, guy was born here, lived here all his life worked in all the restaurants, so he opened his own. He’d been working in restaurants since he was 12. He uses all fresh stuff.”

Little short on facts and corroboration, but that’s never bothered me. Food was good, and fresh fish? Better.

What isn’t visible? Size of the rib cage on that fish. Quit the burly chest. Only enough meat for one, good serving.

Avery’s special is crab cakes. Had one to along with the fish.

Texas Parks and Wildlife had a pair of reps on hand when we docked. They wanted to record the fish, what county, health, and size.

I’d guessed 24 (inches) for the Red, and 18-19 for the Sheepshead. Big Red went to 26 and a half, while the other was 19 (and a half).

I’ll bet, it being Mercury retro, that you had pre-planned, pre-prepared the outing, and the good fishing was the culmination. In my experience, Mercury retro is good for finishing up, completion of stuff; miserable for starting up, setting out on a trip, etc.

Great fish! I love the expression on your face.

    That sheepshead alomst looks photoshopped.

Nope, just ran it through filters on the phone. Photoshop takes too long. That was a live action post.
