Lunar Motion and Mechanics

I stepped out of the motel in Truth or Consequences to load up the rent car. I looked up and the thinnest sliver of a moon was hanging in the predawn heavens, fading twilight and the canopy of stars disappearing.

As Lyle Lovett sings, “The sun comes up in a coffee cup…”

Lunar motions and lunar mechanics, what I’m all about. That is a balsamic moon, hanging in the New Mexico morning sky. The mechanics are simple, really, to me. The moon orbits our planet roughly every 28 days. So the moon passes through each sign in about a two, two and half day cycle. That thinnest shard of moon before dawn?

As you said: there is no try; only do. My little calendar says Wednesday = New Moon.

Moon’s moved into Aries as of now, but not officially ‘new’ for a day or two, yet.
