I had an early eye doc appointment, Friday morning. Thursday, I called and asked if the doc was really going to be in. Close to freezing temperatures bring about a localized panic.

Real snow and ice stop Central Texas in its tracks. Never mind the historical precedents.

I have one, long winter coat. I pulled it on to face the sub-freezing cold. That and scarf, good to go. I was set to spend all of two minutes outside, but I had to be prepared.

After getting to the doctor’s office, I reached into my winter coat’s pocket to fetch tissue to wipe my running nose. Nose was cold. The tissue was a napkin, marked with a specific logo, from Nero’s Coffee in London’s Westminster.

It’s been more than four years since I was last in London with that coat. Early spring, oh-nine?

Means that coat hasn’t been worn in cold weather since then.

San Antonio, less Austin, more South San Antonio? The few days it is really cold? Don’t go out.

I noticed a number of 18-wheelers, early on, taking a two-minute trip to the office. Parts of the Interstate were closed. A hint of ice.
