Vote Early, Vote Often
I consider El Paso almost a second a home to me, as I’ve worked and played in the area for more than two decades now. Principle industries and employers include Ft. Bliss (Federal) and the Border Patrol (Federal).
El Paso: 1 in 10 people in that area are directly employed by the Federal Government. In October, both Texas Senators voted against reopening the Federal Government.
In Austin, there’s a huge IRS complex, on the south side of town. While only a small percentage of Austin is thusly employed, I still have several clients that are “feds.”

In San Antonio, with its silly moniker, “Military City?”

Temple, Killeen? Ft. Hood? One of the largest military bases in the world?
Central Texas: 1 in 10 people in that area are directly employed by the Federal Government. In October, both Texas Senators voted against reopening the Federal Government.
From the website: “… the Killeen community is a model of support for Army families….”

There has to be humor, and it’s not without a small sense of darkly comic, misaligned sense of the absurd that I would point out that it was the strong Democratic cronyism (think: FDR & LBJ) that helped make some of my favorite Texas landmarks, the highways, the byways, and the roadside attractions.
