Xmas Card, Xmas Holiday

Xmas Card, Xmas Holiday

Not much time since I’ve been “back,” as I’ve been busy with readings; however, I did get a chance to reflect, halfway through the crunch, about what I did get accomplished at the very end of 2013.

Two books are now off my list of “Something I’ve been meaning to read, but never got around to until now.”

Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and Joyce’s Ulysses.

Reading notes will follow in a day or two, as time permits. I didn’t consider this until halfway through a chart reading with a client, making a note about various accomplishments in the last year, in the last days of 2013, I finally got two books done.

I “recycled” my old copy of Heart of Darkness sometime in the last five years, and that was a copy I picked up, undergraduate time, so that was a used bookstore in AZ, late 80’s (?) Sounds correct. Carried it around for a quarter century or more. Sent it to the used bookstore, and finally read a copy online.

My paperback copy of Ulysses I can accurately date to July 3, 1998. It was a supposed to be a summer read, and at the time, it had just been named “most influential novel of the last hundred years,” &c.

Both books, crossed off the list “Books that have been abandoned, only partially read,” or “books that look good on the shelf, but have never been read.”

Finished in the last few days of 2013, at the coast.
