H & H Car Wash in El Paso, TX.
For some reason, strains of Working at the Car Wash kept ringing in my ears.
With all my years in El Paso, I’ve never been treated to the classic, H&H Car Wash diner. Apparently, it’s been featured on TV and stuff. Nope, never been before.
I’m guessing it’s “downtown” in location, more or less, sort of a side street, “Yeah, I used to eat here a lot, the city had a contract with them for the patrol cars, so, yeah, we’d be here often. Food’s good.”
All I needed to know. Cousin Brad has asked me, and I’ll see him later this month, so I can tell him I’ve been there, now.
Enchiladas, with piquant red sauce and verdant — more kick — green sauce. Good ice tea, hot outside, and the car was clean. Excellent experience.
“When they asked Laura Bush where the best Mexican food in El Paso was, she said it was H&H, so that…”
So that did it. I was very, very impressed: classic diner.
