The Surfer

The Surfer

Oddly enough, my roots in the study of astrology are deeply intertwinned with the tarot. It was one specific deck, handed to me by a Scorpio mentor, and that deck pushed the astrology into place.

The lightbulb moment, the “Ah-ha,” and to some, like that Scorpio, the “gotcha!”

Epiphany to some, to borrow from the literate taxonomies.

Feelings

Feelings

One of the insidious “memes” cycled through my inbox, and I looked at it.

Feelings are much like waves, we can’t stop them from coming but we can choose which ones to surf.

While I have several, maybe five or six sets of that one deck, I tend to use the original one that was handed to me. The definiton, in one book, for a certain card?

It’s called The Surfer because the The Surfer cruises across the top of the waves without falling. I’ve long since added to that definition, when The Surfer does fall in, it’s called a “wipe-out,” and considered bad.

My meaning, the symbolism, to me, it’s the – usually male – person in question, and that person, represented by that card, surf’s his emotions, typically never falling in, and in those readings, usually? Never making a commitment.

Not that I know anything about that, myself.
