Listerine and Vinegar Foot Soak

Listerine and Vinegar Foot Soak

Read – or heard – about it someplace. I’m unsure of where. I did a couple of cursory searches, and I kept hitting ‘mommy blogs,’ and ‘beauty blogs,’ and that ilk, with comments, roll-overs, pop-ups, and more ads than content, but the gist was mostly were in favor of Listerine and Vinegar Foot Soak to relieve chapped and cracked feet.

Previously, I tried Apple Cider Vinegar as a soak. What I was really looking for was some concoction that would dissolve the dead flesh on my feet. Calluses. This last round of cold weather forced my feet into boots for occasional wear. Not popular with me, having to wear shoes. I’m more a sandals guy. Piper Sandals, more than anything else, but a I keep a pair of sport sandals handy, too.

So did this work? Just vinegar and hot water? Not so much. Yes, it sort of worked, but there was an unintedned consequence: salad dressing smell.

The recipe is simple, a cup of ‘minty fresh’ Listerine, then a cup and a half of vinegar, I suppose fancy vinegar was called for but I used the cheap white vinegar. Add a couple of cups of hot water and soak the feet until —

More than any other concoction, this one worked best for me. Much of the dead skin just sloughs off, and I’m hoping to no longer have cracked heels. Sort of a lame excuse.

The next day, most of the blue — or green — washed off in the shower. Along with some more dead skin.

Does it work? Yes, after fashion.

But unintended side-effects? Blue-green toes. Blueish toenails. The good news? As a Sagittarius, when my foot, feet, go in my mouth? At least the feet will taste better and now with breath freshener.
