Late to the Party

Admittedly, I’m late to the party, but I’ve seen that opera several times, the whole cycle.

I’ll be the first to admit, as I watched a taped version of the Oscars, I was frankly amused by the chose in music, as recognizable as it is, to me, I sort thought it glorified war.

As with any good art, there are multiple interpretations.

Last time I saw Flight of the Valkyries live, they were plus-sized female opera singers with long, blond braids, dragging bits and pieces of slaughtered warriors off to Valhalla —
