Murder on the Orient Express

Murder on the Orient Express

Murder on the Orient Express – Agatha Christie

It starts in Aleppo, Syria. Originally published January and February 1934. Kind of topical, in a strange way, what with current unrest, atrocities, terror, and uncivil war?

Trying to get a grip on locations, and time frames, traveling by train, I tapped Google Earth for maps.

If it’s not Syria then hotspot Balkans? Great, just great. Get flagged for reading classics in popular fiction.

Never seen any film or stage version. Obviously, before this, never read it. Strange, their language faintly archaic, and slightly on the side politically not correct, but then given its era? Such sentiments were normal.

However, by the the last 30, maybe 40 pages, the final quarter of the slim novel, it was rollicking right along. I don’t know if it is a classic in its genre, but worthy of a look, like, as a library read. Historically intriguing, that’s what I mean.
