Trite pattern to me. The passage, part of the story’s set-up it, the parts that define the inner dialogue, that starts with the front matter. That passage. There seems to be a generation that is stuck in a permanent adolescence. Which, in turn, echoes that same sentiment, too afraid to make a commitment, too afraid not to. Stuck.

Perhaps it speaks more about the nature of my work, but I’ve gotten to the point that I like the little Buddhist lessons encapsulated in the novels.

At times, the Buddhist dogma seems a little heavy-handed, but as it is new material, that’s all right. It does fit organically with the tale.

What is about SoCal — the Peoples Republic of Southern California — that attracts cults and cult figures? Makes me shiver.

With that quote at the start, the denouement should be obvious. Not without a few broken limbs on the way. As always, a very satisfying book.
