No Exit
The image is left over from a spring fling in far west Texas, nominally part of a Sky Friday sequence, and it the image does capture part of that Big Sky — eat your heart out Montana — sense that portions of Texas encompass.
This is also a placeholder, of sorts, to remind me that I’m not there this summer, not yet.
One organizer I work with is fully capable of planning the events for the next year, up to 18 months in advance. That tends to be Austin. Two or three San Antonio promoters have standing dates at certain venues, with travel time less than ten minutes, that is kind of an obvious choice.
Still, stripping away the excess in emotional attachment, the shows in San Antonio, while less productive on a day-by-day basis, over time?
It’s just easier.
No Exit
As a simple reminder for myself, there is No Exit in El Paso this June.
Been more like a quarter of a century that I’ve been doing whistle-stop calls out yonder, and even though the sign encourages, “Exit Now?”
There is No Exit for me.

Another No Exit image. (That’s the tube in London.)
