The current eclipse action, the set up for August 2017, starts in July. The beginning of Leo starts with a new moon in Leo, then there is a (partial) lunar eclipse on August 7, culminating in the great American solar eclipse August 21.
The symbolic meaning of the eclipse and that one line from Shakespeare’s Sonnet 107?
The meaning begins on July 23. Start of Leo. That New Moon heralds changes, and this is brought up by Mars, just entering the tropical zodiac sign of Leo, like, almost at the same time. Mars adds activity, drive, kick. This is also “fixed,” as in a fixed sign, so there’s a durable, longer-lasting sense to the action, as well.
This cycle gets more and more confusing, though, and this is where the notion that eclipses are “bad” gets traction — Mars in Leo and Mercury Retrograde, starts in the middle of the mess.
So Mars is cooking in Leo, a fixed sign, and the lunar cycles are on a Leo/Aquarius axis, fixed signs, and the final point where Mercury stops is in Leo, a fixed sign, there’s — obviously — a lot of very stubborn energy that needs release.
With my many years of patient observation, time after time, again and again, eclipses aren’t bad. Unstable? Sure. A sort of temporary mania? Yes, that too. Bad? No. Another Shakespeare allusion, this time in Hamlet, “Nothing’s good or bad but thinking makes it so.”
The exact points highlighted by this cycle, planetary and lunar, start at zero degrees of Leo, up to an including the first couple of degrees of anything “fixed,” i.e., Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. Then, those same signs are affected in the middle, say 13-17 degrees, and finally, 27, 28, 29 degrees. All get a thump.

A great number of sad augurs should be mocking their own predictions. Look back see what was said, then see what happens. I know that I deal largely in allegory, myth, and metaphor. There are no presumptions, otherwise. So the exact nature of this planetary action isn’t nearly as “bad” as predicted.
Unstable? Sure. Bad? No. No way.
What the lunation will certainly bring forward, thrust into the limelight, and otherwise make obvious? Cracks in the system, and cracks that need to be repaired. Perhaps the source of the damage will be more obvious by the end of the cycle, not really coming to a collusion with a more (Virgo-specific, Virgo-perfect) answer as of 9/6/2017 (Full Moon, Virgo — Mercury direct 9/5, see how that times?)
