Tres Amigos
Pretty sure I’ve made this comment before. Not like this is the first time I noticed this. Or might be. The location is old East Austin, around the corner from the old airport.Along with the requisite theme material there is, in the entrance, high in a shelf, three figures that look like the Buddha.
Even a cursory examination, though, reveal a slight difference. Sure, porcelain white, yes, general shape and yoga form, sure , all good. But the presumed gestures?
“Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil?”
Tres Amigos
The restaurant’s location relative proximity to family, relative food itself (Classic Austin TexMex), all of that adds the proper cachet. Convenience, form, function, price — they all align perfectly. Still, tucked up on a shelf, the three figurines sit, statuesque, beaming out a message — and I’m totally lost on apparent symbolism.
