Pick up mostly to-go stuff, brisket, sausage, turkey, and their creamed corn, by the quart. But in passing? That’s a half pound of pork ribs, or so, and some jalapeños — an almost perfect way to say hello to the beach.

While Rudy’s is a chain, this particular store is outstanding, might have a little something to do with its address, along SPID — South Padre Island Drive in Corpus Christi, perhaps a little heavy with the historical Spanish Catholicism, but that goes with the area: the Devil’s Elbow, the Texas Coastal Bend.

That is some serviceable good BBQ.
