Don’t Drink and Drive

Don’t Drink and Drive

Should be an addendum, “Don’t drink and dial,” for one fishing buddy, and “don’t drink and text,” well, you know who you are.

Cursory searching came up with “If you fall down seven times, get up eight,” as a Japanese aphorism, that speaks to a certain amount of resilience.

Some would suggest it as a zen expression.

There’s a drive, a tenacity, a sense that we will not be subdued, that kind of feeling associated with the statement.

We gladly feast on those who would subdue us.
Laeti edimus qui nos subigant!

However?

Don’t Drink and Drive

The Japanese proverb, “If you fall down seven time, then get up eight times?” As such, there are times when this might less than stellar advice.

“‘Fall down seven, get up eight’ is not how you pass the field sobriety test.”
