Long Road to Mercy

Long Road to Mercy – David Baldacci

Serial killers.

“Life was not the movies, or books. Sometimes the simplest answer was the right one.” Page 30.

It’s another Baldacci book. Epic in scope, a new character for the mix, and murder, mayhem, and convoluted back story. Twisted, in a way.

Characters that seem to be fully drawn, with the psychological underpinning part of the mix.

“She thought it was still anyone’s bet as to whether the internet would turn out to be more good or evil.” Page 70.

We all agree.

Maybe a third of the way into the story, the narrative shifted. It went from wooden characters, setting up for a scene, to being really interesting to me. Set on the edge of the Grand Canyon, sure, old and familiar territories for me, but the narrative developed legs and teeth.

Serious teeth. Serious plot that went spinning forward, launched like a rocket.

Long Road to Mercy

Good story and a main character that has a good backstory; looking forward to more in this series. Really want to hear more about the supporting character.

Long Road to Mercy

Gemini and Capricorn play ancillary parts. Good. Bet there’s a future hook therein.
