As always, hat tip to the old girlfriend.
Our tale, thus far? As well-connected bon vivant with limitless supplies of cash, and a (fictional) proper sense of justice? Cop, lawyer, hero, lover of many women? Yeah, the list goes on.
It’s a ripping yarn, fun details. Well-crafted, in my eyes and ears. Not terribly deep, but then I think of this as literary fluff. Plausible, action, adventure, a good sense of place, and the craft of the writing itself? Always enjoy that.
There’s a point in the various tales wherein the pacing itself, and streamlined story-telling, seems to work. More plot, but leavened with proper novelist’s details. Just enjoy it. Don’t think too much about it. High-brow Hardy Boys boinking Nancy Drew for adult-aged readers.

To be sure, I loved the London setting for much of the tale. Speaking of tail, though, there seems to a nearly impossible amount of sex for the lonely protagonist.
The tale ends with a rather economical, if climatic finish. Usually, I thought of these as thrillers, or murder-mystery, but this was crime and international espionage. An American version of James Bond, even.
