It was cheap digital “paperback” of a literary-pulp genre, recommended from some list. Looked interesting enough, pre-war Mexico. Although, historically, how long ago would a “Pre-war Mexico” be? Have to predate the European arrivals. This is the more colonial term, “The War” being WW II.
