Then I have to pause, and look up a phrase: “googlies bowled” at newcomers? It’s a cricket ball with deceptive bounce. The only aspect I know of cricket? “A sticky wicket,” and frankly, I am unsure of what that is.

That’s just mean. It reads like the rest of the books, but just pulled me in then left me hanging, ready for what’s next.

Good on ya, mate.

Yeah, I can’t do a cockney accent.
