Fairy Tale

Fairy Tale

Look: I am not a big fan of the author’s primary genre, horror, but he does know how to tell a good story. He’s one of the top-grossing authors of the modern era, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed his works about the craft of what he does.

Fairy Tale seems to be another outlier, for me. Stacks of the novels are on the display table both the bookstore and the big-box warehouse place.

The first hundred pages are not the ultra-crisp word smithing I’m used to from King. But I was roped in, deeply invested, before I finished the first chapter. Again: not a fan, but it is good. A great author at the top of his game.

Notes: archaic structure to the novel. Reminded me of Three Men in a Boat, which, in turn would merely be a historical referent.

Stephen King: On Writing & Billy Summers.

About the author: Born and raised in a small town in East Texas, Kramer Wetzel spent years honing his craft in a trailer park in South Austin. He hates writing about himself in third person. More at KramerWetzel.com.
