Sumer Solstice: Sun enters Cancer 6/21/23 9:58 AM

Gemini

Gemini One of the first of the metaphysical stones, mineral, I was attracted to? Malachite. It’s a green, depends, but usually a faded forest green is what I think of, and enough time around computer “artists?” The malachite seems to have fractal kinds of shapes defined in the interior designs. I’ll guess that there is an ebb and flow to the mineral’s formation, to account for those shapes. There was also an off-the-cuff comment by a New-Age-y guy in one of the stores, “Malachite is an angry stone.” Over the years, and with my near-constant exposure to minerals and their alleged metaphysical properties, I believed what that guy said, at first. But over time, I learned an alternate to that understanding, and it was about using malachite to attract money. It was also about using malachite to process emotional content, and maybe that’s why that one guy was angry? I wear very little jewelry these days, I don’t have any malachite. But I’m not trying to attract money, or process emotional issues of my own. As far as Gemini is concerned, this is about getting the proper touchstone, the proper trinket, or maybe, it’s just a simple belief pattern, getting that and getting that belief in order. Just happens to coincide with the Pisces stuff, and that New Moon.

Cancer

As we approach the summer solstice, and the first days of Cancer, the Moon Children’s sign? Closer we get? The weirder it gets, and this is when there is nothing but subconscious stirrings, faded memories, and moments of lost time, all popping up at an inconvenient frequency — or so it seems. I suggest, part of my belief, that this sort of material drifts upwards, bubbles up from a miasmic hidden mind. Like that analogy?

The sulphurorus aroma quickly dissipates. Not without leaving a hint, not without leaving an indelible mark in that Cancer, crab-like mind, no, the metaphorical aromatic reminder doesn’t pass without some fresh symbolic imagery. What it does serve? A reminder. There is material, unbidden, from the past, from the passed, that needs some attention. Think long and hard about that one.

The Leo

I used to live near a series of art studios. Some of them were working studios, but over time, they mostly evolved into “display” spaces. Lit bit of a misnomer, as there was an element of testing display, but, depending on location, the art was for sale. Sometimes, that was pricey works. The purpose of the studio space was, an ink, paint stained floor, bares concrete with some kind of finish on it, blank white walls, various suspended spotlights to highlight works, the purpose of the studio spaces was to sell expensive art. I enjoyed looking, but I was never motivated to buy. I did, on occasion, steal ideas from material I’d seen, but no, the works themselves were far out of my price range. All of the studios, originally, were live-in, working artists spaces, but as encroaching gentry marched onward? Subsumed and replaced with fine art for sale. Look, Leo dear, look: this is about shopping, what with Mars, Venus, and other, assorted influences, but I like the Venus and Mars stuff best, look, Leo. Might not be a time to buy, but think about shopping, or like me, steal some ideas.

Virgo

I’m not really Buddhist, but I certainly have some of those leanings. There’s an ongoing issue for poor, pitiful Virgo, and my best thought on the appropriate response from good Virgo strongly resembles that Buddhist calm. Can’t change it, and can’t fix it, and therefore, this isn’t really a Virgo problem. Doesn’t stop you from wanting to fix it; and it probably won’t stop you from making a few attempts at straightening out the problems, trying to right the perceived wrongs, and meddling with the dragons. Couple of problems, the dragons don’t like to meddled with, and the problem you’re trying to fix might not be fixable, not that it would ever stop a good Virgo, but something to consider? Let sleeping dragons lay there. Since you’re going to try and fix that one thing? I’ll allow one shot at it, but if you can’t fix it, then? Drop this and let a more qualified, better equipped, or just a professional who knows exactly what to do? Let that person fix the problem. Virgo: not your rodeo; not your bull to ride. Or? Let sleeping dragons doze.

Libra

We’re looking for that correct phrasing. We’re looking for a carefully crafted Libra message that conveys acres of data in a few simple words. Best way to think about this week’s exercise? You want to do something I’ve never been able to do, get that message down to a few words. Think in terms of the back page of the local weekly “entertainment” newspaper. The cover usually has hard-hitting story about local corruption, and a teaser for “best in class” for local hotspots, and then, a series of reviews of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, movies, and bands. The back page has anything from a few classified-styled ads above the fold to some of the papers, Austin, for example, uses the whole back page for that kind of advertising space. The lead in each ad is bold, and bigger, then sometimes, that is followed with a tagline, comment, phone number, something. There is an art to writing the perfect ad like this, and for the moment? That’s Libra’s goal, the perfect two-line answer, the correct two-line intro, the best two-line, one-two punch for a smart remark. Retort. Response or even just introduction. Two lines — or less.

Scorpio

Not going to win this one, I’m just saying. There are two bigger, or littler, influences I would hang this energy upon, and yes, the approach of the summer solstice is good, but no, dear Scorpio, you’re not going to win this one. Mars and Venus in Leo, that’s part of it, and there’s an approaching, but not here yet, influence from pesky Uranus in Taurus. What it means? Not going to win this one, dear Scorpio, it just doesn’t stack up in your favor. Understanding that? That’s where I appear to be priceless, as the harbinger of when to hold them, and when to fold them. Better yet? Not show up for this hand. Or this game? Whatever you want to call it, failing to engage in the problem is the first step to not getting hurt. I understand that there’s a principle at work, and I understand that innate Scorpio need meddle, but this is one bet left alone.

Sagittarius

I love my “people.” Simple as that, the folks I encounter, day-to-ay, some are random, some are by choice, and some flit in and out, at the whims of the fates, but? I love my people. One of them was asking me an astrology-based question, but the correct answer, which I proffered, was more listening to a problem and offering a common sense approach. Weeks later, I was considered a miracle worker. Between you and me, the answer was clearly out of the auspices of my astrology, but the answer was artfully couched with supporting astrological details. Still, more common sense than anything else. As a Sagittarius myself, there’s a singular point from this. Maybe more than one point, but it’s about being kind to our people, friends, family, cohorts, and co-workers. I like being able to help, and I like helping “my people.” This is week, listen for it, if asked, and the critical point? “If asked,” then it’s our job to respond.

Capricorn

I am very clearly Sagittarius, and as such, I can easily fit both feet in my mouth, at any given time. And times being what they are? Can Capricorn learn a choice lesson from me? A simple exercise, let me try it this way, “A closed mouth gathers no feet.” In this example, I am very clearly preaching the opposite of what I practice. I am suggesting to do as I say, not as I do. I am not leading by example. I’m stepping right in it. (See Sagittarius). With that duly noted? Get the broad, not buried or hidden hint? I’m suggesting, instead of making a statement, instead of “reaching out,” and instead of yelling at your neighbor across the street? Maybe wave. Maybe nothing. Maybe wait for it. Maybe bide your time until there is a better opportunity, even though, yeah, looks good now, doesn’t it? Might want to hit the Capricorn pause button. Look at my example how that didn’t work out. Think of me as an example of what not to do.

Aquarius

There are some days, I can’t get out of the Middle Ages. I can’t seem to shake a mindset that is possibly, probably, just totally medieval. Warring tribes, factions within factions, geopolitical material on a tiny scale, and the fiefdoms were no more than a few hundred acres, at best. Tiny little wars over tinier plots of land? That’s the image I was working from. There are temporary alliances, and then? The situation I personally hate? “An enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Better yet? “Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer.”

Aquarius is faced with unwieldy and unlikely alliances. Keep in mind, these are labeled as “temporary alliances,” and that means the partnership is for the duration of whatever the scenario is, I was thinking battle. Band together long enough to vanquish a foe, and then go back to the petty squabbles. Sometimes it helps. What can it hurt? It’s about temporary alliance to move your good Aquarius self forward.

Pisces

After my last move, I made conscious decision to eschew cardboard boxes for long-term storage. Attracts bugs, breeding grounds for vermin, and in a typical Texas summer or two? The cardboard begins to break down, so it’s not a useful storage material. From an ecological view, the plastic isn’t much better, but I store so little, I don’t see this as a problem. One store, the Container Store, they make big money off of compulsive (Virgo) organizational devices. This is about making order and organizing typical Pisces chaos.

For me, it was a simple understanding that buying more stuff to store existing stuff in? That creates an endless loop of buying, and doesn’t answer the real question, which is bubbling up even now, in Pisces. Before we go on Pisces spending spree, before jumping off and getting the latest, greatest, “this will organize my crap” things? Before doing any of that, look at it on paper, or preferably, on a spreadsheet, or whatever analytical tool you prefer, look at the ideas and figure if the new thing will really work. Organization is good. Buying new stuff right now? Maybe not.

Aries

My simple solution? Pick three projects, intricate plans, destinations, goals, or targets. Pick three. Sort this out that there must be three instead of just one, and get ready to pursue all three. The way this bounces, though, only one of the three will materialize, prove effective, or fall into place as the correct destination, but in order to get there? Pick three. It’s not a simple solution, not at first, and understanding which target, which goal, the perfect Aries plan, understanding which one will work by the week’s end? More like the passage of the Sun into Cancer, summer solstice, but which one will work out? Can’t know that, not yet. Good Aries all seem to share a singleness of purpose, an inability to focus on three at one time, but always being superlative when that focal point is just one. In the next few days, to get to that position of just one? Pick three to start with.

Taurus

Astrology isn’t an exact science. I do know some people fluent in my field who would have us believe that it is an exact science, and the position of the planets, that’s is precise; oftentimes, that position is scientifically determined, but I would hardly call plumbing the depths of the human soul to be exact. People are people, and people will do the damnedest things. Part of the gig. There is the question of which direction this takes us, and rather than trying to concentrate on an in-exact answer? Just understand that there is a push, a shove, a hint, a redirect, and then a palpable indication of a direction change. Not always compliant, that’s how I would look at this, “not always compliant.” Be prepared, as this week, drawing closer to the summer solstice, this next few days offers a new perspective, and a shove in a new direction. Best guess? Don’t fight it. Should get a great deal easier right after the Sun eases into Cancer.
