Cancer

Cancer To me, it became a bit of an overused trope in film and TV, video. This is action on a screen, not in real life, but just when it looks like the bad guy is about to get away, he rushes out of a blind alleyway into a busy street, and just when it is needed the most, a car, maybe a bus, or a truck, but some vehicle then flattens the bad guy. Why most villainous characters are played as males? Another question for a different time — all the bad guys are guys, right? There is a warning, and observation, with a movie trope like this, when this kind of an image is used, where the bad person is flattened by traffic after rushing blindly forward. In part, look before you cross the street. It’s that simple. Look before you cross the street; blindly rushing forward, well, like I noted, we’ve seen this before, actions on TV, in the movies, streaming video, right? But also, reusing an old trope like that? Maybe think of a better way to end the scene. Happy Birthday? Look both ways, even if it is a one-way street.

The Leo

The Leo The misfits, the weird, the odd, the unusual? We are, temporarily, your people. Those of us who don’t fit with normal taxonomy, those of us who don’t fit within narrowly defined categories, and those of us who refuse the accepted norm? We are your people. Means we’re here for a good time, but maybe not a long time, and the best action for The Leo? Enjoy us. Embrace us. Accept our weirdness as “normal,” if only for the next week or three.

The “weirdness factor” is ratcheted up by a coefficient of at least 3, maybe 5 or 6, which is way greater than effectively doubling the normal weird stuff — instead of arguing with it? Realize that this is just a phase, and while the weirdness will continue, it won’t be this strange for that long. Days, maybe, a week or two. It can be a great source of inspiration. Or a warning, works either way.

Virgo

I was listening to a Shakespeare podcast when my navigational map program cut in, basically? “Take the next right turn, save 30 minutes.” For my own amusement, the voice is set to “Female, British (UK).” Still, I didn’t pay attention because, having navigated this route so many times, I know what’s what. Turns out there was a construction project that had gone awry, and the traffic was backed up. After I skipped the first warning? The second warning? There was a sea of angry red taillights ahead. I heeded the siren’s call, and took that next exit, thereby, avoiding stalled freeway traffic. Of course, this was a few weeks back, and of course, this was before Mercury was technically retrograde, and, of course, I didn’t listen to the first warning. Up to you, dear Virgo, up to you. Listen to the first warning, or go your own way?

Libra

I came up with the term “concatenate.” Technically, it’s a math term for shortening a mathematical expression, turning a longer number into a shorter number. However, in more popular usage, it’s about turning a longer list into a shorter list. I used the expression when I ran together a series of web journal entries, in various locations, as a single unit. My original web journal, the daily weblog, the blog, the daily picture blogs, all of that, I dumped it all into one place. “Concatenation” is what I called it. I think my actions and the terminology aligned. Twisting my definition, and following my line of thinking, in this one example? It leads your normally merry Libra self on a chase, and lands you where you should be. Follow along, the idea is fore-shorten as much as possible. Make life easier. Make Libra Life easier.

Scorpio

It was a Coen Brothers film, the first time I encountered this, but as part of the great subconsciousness? Probably been present for some years. It’s about packaging and selling a sentiment rather than the actual place. For example? when I lived in Austin, it was a smaller town, filled with unique and weird places. The architecture was haphazard, almost an afterthought. The lack of coherence made it special, and the notion that artists, musicians, and creatives of all stripes could live there, happily co-exist amongst rednecks, politicians, and old hippies? Sure, the good, old days. I was neither good nor old. But that was a feeling that has since been packaged, repackaged, and sold, several times over, and only pockets of that old ethos remain. But that sentiment remains and at this point? It’s practically a “Chamber of Commerce” slogan. Scorpio, the question remains, are you selling, promoting, an ideal, or is it the way things really are? Question for your Scopio self, first. or maybe larger, but I would start with an internal examination.

Sagittarius

Several of my professional associates craft a variety of unguents, lotions, and sprays, mostly topical aromatics, that are labeled to be some kind of a protective barrier. Started with, for me, “Florida Water,” and I’m not even sure what that is. I don’t have any on hand, and for that matter, I rarely keep it on hand. I do have a couple of atomizers with various concoctions, not of my own making, and those are purported to be protective, or money-drawing, or something. My own version, in true shamanistic style, I use a base oil with hot pepper, fiery red, and then add my own ingredients, as I see fit. Works for me. But for a more general public? For Sagittarius? The simplest, easiest one to get is “Florida water.” It has a bright, floral tone, used to be super-cheap, and a little dash can take care of computer ills, network problems, and recalcitrant co-workers. Just a spritz. Doesn’t take much, or, like me? I apply to the pressure points, wrists, behind my ears. Times like this require a little extra Sagittarius caution. Florida Water, or whatever local equivalent you’ve got?

Capricorn

“Honor traditions.” I was thinking, and I’ve used it too many times to reuse it now, but it was Pythagoras, one of this first theorems, about honoring the old gods as custom decrees. Be a lot cuter, in my mind, if I had that in original, Ancient Greek. But looking at the planets, there’s an element that emphasizes Saturn, and Saturn for Capricorn? It’s about understanding, embracing, and honoring the traditions. Some of these are traditions so steeped in history that we might lose sight of the original source. That might not work. But some traditions are built upon years of proven remedies. I’m not sure which one it is. One of my examples, I traditionally pat my pockets for a quick personal inventory before I step outside. Phone, wallet, keys, other items that I tend to carry? Quick check. It’s a tradition. Honor the traditions. Honor thy Capricorn traditions, whatever, however, those show up.

Aquarius

It was — originally — from a science fiction book, the symbol was some kind of — I don’t recall. It was a skull over crossed lightening bolts. Toying with a graphics program at the time, I built that out as a logo for something. Never used it, but I liked the imagery. Over the years, I can’t even place the book itself, I know the author’s name, but I am unsure of which text it was in, or if I even really read it, but I liked the imagery, a modern version of a pirate. Same for Aquarius? Old image, long-buried, resurfaces. Can be good. Can be menacing. Can be a lot of things. While I liked the imagery itself, I never quite got the right red glow for those eyes. Think that would help. There’s a chance to dig back in, uncover older Aquarius material, and try to move it forward. The enhanced edition has the Pluto push attached. Use it. Dig a little in the Aquarius past to see where the future is going, the Aquarius future.

Pisces

Old family lore: “When all else fails, read the instructions.” It was passed down to me from my father, and I’m pretty sure, he got it from his father, and here I am, passing it along to you, dear Pisces, as an exhibit of my roots, and as a valid way to look at what’s up ahead. What to do, what not to do? The guidelines, the methods that work? The way to do this? It was all spelled out in the instructions. Following those instructions results in success. Success is what I want for Pisces. In order to get to that success? Yeah, if this were me, I’d have to go and dig the box out of the trash, because I glanced at the instructions, but I didn’t write them down, thought, “Oh, I got this,” and then? As soon as I tossed the instructions, there I am, forgetting what I just read, and I know I need to do this in a certain way, what did those blasted instructions say? Where’s that box? Remember, when all else fails, read the instructions.

Aries

Mars and Uranus, the fallout from the Full Moon? Holidays? Plus Mercury is in apparent retrograde motion, which means, in that condition, in that position? Bosses. Employers, state agents, persons or people who hold sway over the life of Aries? Best advice? Do what the boss says. Simple as that. Two separate fishing buddies have suggested we fish this weekend. I turned them both down. Not because I don’t like fishing but given the current astrological conditions? I doubt there will be much catching, and being of an Aries temperament myself? I’m passing on the activity that is predicated on “fun,” and sticking to work, as well as work-related materials. Might not be fun, but also: might keep our Aries selves out of trouble.

Taurus

Statistically, and I’m not really willing to dig around to prove it, but what I recall? Statistically, Shakespeare’s Hamlet is the most frequently quoted Shakespeare play. More than any other play, it has the most quotes. I can’t verify that, nor can I find the old academic link that suggested the point. But it feels about right, not that I have any kind of running source of data to support what plays I use most frequently. For example, I was looking over notes for a play, I thought I was going to see this summer, and as it turns, probably not, but that didn’t stop me from doing a recent re-examination of my notes on that material. Revisit, with an intent to educate myself, but also with an eye towards the future only to misread what I thought was coming up. No matter. I got sidetracked, then, Mercury, Mars, Uranus influences? I got sidetracked from being sidetracked, and therein is the answer to the questions. Still doesn’t prove a thing, but Taurus? Did you learn something new along the way?

Gemini

The Full Moon is over before the holiday arrives. Therein is the beginning, and end, of the good news. Realize that this exceptionally hot, but limited engagement Mars slash Uranus slash Pluto thing happens at a time when Mercury is retrograde, so it’s a hot item cooled by the influence of Mercury (Retrograde) in adjacent water. Played properly? This can be steamy and possibly fun, with emotion as running high. However, given that Mercury, you know the rest, is backwards? There is a potential pitfall, problematic in its own way, with misunderstanding signals, getting the right message at the wrong time, or getting the wrong message delivered in such a way that it sounds correct. Lots of options and the best use of the energy is to find some Gemini activity that allow us to burn off that juice. Two examples, for my Twins? 1. “I’m going to jog around the block before I answer (good). 2. “I’m going to call up my ex and explain their problems to them (bad idea).”
