What Does It Mean?
Part One
Woke up the other morning, had an early appointment anyway, so it wasn’t much of a waste, just wrestling with demons.
This demon was a dream about me being player in Shakespeare’s the Scottish Play, and then? Forgetting my lines.
Truthfully? Other than a few passages, I don’t know the lines, never really did. One professor tried to prop me up by having me read a long passage from Hamlet in front of a freshman class. Didn’t go well. I’m no orator.
Flimsy sword, made from, in my dream state, felt like cardboard. Killed the babies, or guards, something, then couldn’t remember a line. Woke up in a sweat.
Never claimed to be much of an actor, that’s for sure, admire the work, can be critical when I feel like it’s not done right, but no, I’m not an actor.
If I ever auditioned for a part in that play? I’d want to play the porter, the guy at the gate. The source of the original knock-knock joke, e.g., MacBeth.
What Does It Mean?
Part Two
Cleaning up older entries, then shifting the digital home to a more permanent location?
My content was — is — laced with dead links, link rot, so to speak. On an average day, I can clean up — maybe — 20 to 30 older entries. For the earlier blogs, that would be a month or more. But with my chaotic yet prodigious output, at one time, it could be as little as a half a month.
Think I ran 3 blogs at one time.
What’s disturbing, combing through the older material? Some good. Some brilliant. Much is crap. More detritus and details. Mostly junk. There would be six lines with six links, and all the old links 404’d.
That’s link rot. Withering on the vine.
Oddly enough, and I’ve noted this before, but the British (tabloid-style) media tended to respect the link structure, permitting deep links that are still valid. Very few of the pro–bloggers from the past decades are still in a single location, or honor the old links.

So digging through older entries, and then a weird dream sequence about stage fright, when I don’t do any stage work myself? At the gate? The source of the original knock-knock joke, e.g., MacBeth.
Old and new, but what does it mean?
