Sitting the doctor’s office, I was casually chatting up the person at the counter. She rattled off one of her kid’s birthdays, and I made some general remarks about the sun sign.
“No, that doesn’t fit at all.”
Which, in my mind, I’m already “doing the math,” so that means the sun sign itself isn’t the biggest element in that natal chart, and this is a fine example of what human interaction does especially when compared to largely-derivative artificial intelligence.
Reminded me of twins, two siblings, born 4 (four) minutes apart. Nearly identical natal charts, but the human reaction to what that — those — charts represent? Suffice it to say, very different. Strait-laced and wild child. Buttoned-up and un-buttoned.
Until we have an intelligence as self-aware as the Murderbot, the ability to make judgement calls isn’t in the data. Certain, purely objective answers are easy to draw from a large data set, the web-crawlers, scrappers that have no doubt sucked up some of my horoscopes.
But there’s a human element still required in what I do. I have a rudimentary tarot app, I still tote around as it uses my primary deck for imagery and interpretations. But all the app can do is deal the cards and list the textbook definition, not how one card interacts with another.

Likewise, the AI-version of astrology is still limited as there’s no way to do what the computer can’t do. I’ve long advertised that what I do, in a reading, in a live reading with another person, either in front of me, or on the phone? The purpose is to answer the questions that the computer can’t.
“Your sun sign is this, moon sign that,” and each element should be weighed against other elements, as well as angles, the relative position of some of the more generational placements, and then, where the planets are right now. Houses, lunar mansions, indignities, the current phase of the moon? All plays a part. But exactly what part is more important?
All depends.
Yes, there’s an advanced level of human experience required. For many long years, part of the backbone of what I did? I used a “chart interpreter” program, an add-on to my basic astrology chart program. It generated reports about planets, signs, and angles between, plus locations in houses. The fun part, for me? I was able to personally edit the text, and, in fact, that’s the basis for my Predictive Astrology text. But that’s merely a backbone, a collection of data points, much observed myself, but still, just collected data, assembled with no proper emphasis on what’s important, at the time.

AI Generated pseudo-intelligence brings a great volume of textual data to the page, to the table, so to speak. But digesting that data? Picking and choosing what’s important, what needs attention, what doesn’t need to be addressed, what I offer that is not AI Generated pseudo-intelligence and includes a human element of what is really important: hopes, dreams, fantasies, realities.
Like that tarot app, the computer can only yield textbook definitions. Not that it’s bad; no, that’s not it. Textbook definitions is a great place to start. But that’s not all there is.
