One of the nebulous ideas behind my little side-project — BexarCountyLine.com — was to capture the oddities, eccentricities and visual humor as cultures collide, mutate, and spawn fresh ideas, over and over.

Perfect example?

Rarely do I have any images that feature people. I actively try to avoid pictures with people. Not that I’m not fond of people, just I tend to make an effort to respect privacy.

That single image, only one I got, was San Antonio’s fabled and storied Market Square. Best guess? Holiday food vendor on the sidewalk. Whipped up the phone and grabbed a quick image, chuckled, and went on my way. I think it was after breakfast at Mi Tierra, another favorite source of images.

In old East Austin, I stumbled into my first “roast corn,” a local delicacy consisting of grilled corn, used to be just on the cob, with various condiments laid out for treating and flavoring the corn. Butter, margarin, mild chili, hot chili, salt, pepper, lemon, and so on.

Over the years, I’ve sampled some, and it varies. Usually good, in one way or another.

The image, here’s an example of some logo I’ve never actually seen, but the zeitgeist inserted its name and logo — then — enterprising, possibly a bit ill in the head, young men did a spin.
