T or C New Mexico is Truth or Consequences, NM. New Mexico joined the United States in 1912.

T or C New Mexico, was originally known as Hot Springs. Known for its hot springs, pretty sure, the source of the name. Not a big deal. Weird stop off the highway that’s always held a certain fascination for me.

Went for a soak in the hot springs, wandered around town to find something to eat and stumbled into a Capricorn’s diner called the Grapevine Bistro.

Whole wheat, gluten free, vegan, free-range, grass-fed burgers on lettuce instead of a bun. Good stuff. Exceedingly charming and pleasant atmosphere, and the owners were cooking, chatting, and delivering the food.

“We were going to call it, ‘Weeds and Seeds,’ but…” Then he shrugged and smiled. Guys with pony tails apparently know about that allusion.

I didn’t get it.

Would’ve eaten there a second or third time, like most weekend tourist towns, the day off was Tuesday.

 I’ve always favored the slogan, “New Mexico: a lot like old Mexico but with cleaner bathrooms.” The real reason I enjoyed that image? 

“No Service.”
