OK, I won’t, I promise…
Oh my. That WOULD get messy if it all gave way.
Yup. Cleaning up spilled grain is a pain, plus people won’t buy “dirty” grain (though feed bins are often as dirty as the floor). Not to mention which there’s a certain amount of loss and buyers want full value for the $. Stores have the same problem with dog food bags, torn open accidentally (or on purpose). And have you ever tried to take home one of those 50 – lb bags of dog food, hastily taped up, and sold at a discount? Good luck getting it into the house or the garage without it spilling its guts all over the driveway, steps and floor. My mother was so irked once, I remember, that she dropped the bag where it was, split it from top to bottom, and called all 6 dogs to dinner right where it lay (back porch). The heck with getting it into the barn, where it belonged.
When you grow up on a farm, you become familiar with the darndest things.
The sepia sign doesn’t scream ‘attention’, but the grain in the bags and the bags themselves start out in a sort-of sepia tone…
Good manners ought to suggest that a chair alone is for seating…
